Ben Chandler's votes www.seebenspend.com

Ben Chandler believes that we have to save the earth from global warming, so the lightbulbs have to go! In 2007, he voted to ban them.

Factories in the US closed, including some in KY, and China took over manufacture of our new CFL's. Large numbers of Chinese workers involved in production of CFL's have been poisoned by the mercury contained therein, but Ben apparently thinks that shouldn't deter you from using these bulbs in your home! Maybe the $70 LED's will be better....

Help is on the way!

TX Republican Joe Barton has introduced legislation, on July 6, 2011 to repeal the lightbulb ban! There's hope...maybe. Nope. Got a simple majority; needed 2/3. If we can't repeal a lightbulb bill, we're gonna have a heckuva time getting rid of Obamacare.

November 2012 - ban ben!

It didn't Seem So Bad At The Time...

The result of a single seemingly inconsequential bill from 2007:

(Try to imagine life when all the other stuff Ben's voted for hits the proverbial fan! It's all on "delay action", you know...due to start hitting after 2012.)

I went to the store the other day, and found myself caught in a:

Over a period of months, we installed recessed can lighting in pretty much every room to make our home a more pleasant place to be. We hated sitting around in the dark! Most of the bulbs in the cans now are the originals, but sooner or later, they'll burn out.

Looking at the cost of replacing all these bulbs with new "improved" politically correct ones...YOWEE!!! I'm back to sitting in the dark; saving my lightbulbs for special occasions. Like Christmas and Easter.

Total for replacement bulbs at my house: $4,351.10, plus tax: another $261.07.

Farewell, faithful CHEAP friend! Tom Edison, it was great while it lasted! In Chandler's Brave New World of home lighting, it's either mercury or bankruptcy. Who says you don't have any choice?

(P. S. Small bits of mercury on a driveway in Portland, OR netted a cleanup bill of $156,000 and 2 months of hell with the EPA. But the lightbulbs are OK...really...)
